About Healing Chambers, International

… a high-quality dispensary of a prescription drug known as high-density oxygen (commonly called HBOT)

Saving Your Health Care $$$

Please take the time to view this presentation. It will explain why hospital costs are so high, and so inaccessible to patients. It will also explain why MediCare, MediCal, MediCaid and most health insurance companies will not pay for your hyperbaric oxygen treatments.

Healing Chambers International is a guild of Centers with the Mission is to make hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) available and affordable to all persons who need it.

We are expanding our affiliated out-patient Centers around the world to ensure that specialist physicians can, if they choose, prescribe HBOT as an adjunct to their usual response to disease and trauma, having full confidence that their orders will be carried out to the high standards of any hospital.

The hospital-quality Healing Chambers International (HCI) affiliated centers will dispense high density oxygen (HBOT) to any patient with a prescription (“Rx”) from a registered Medical Doctor (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S)

If that Rx. is for any of the “approved for reimbursement” maladies then the patient is always encouraged to go to a hospital-based hyperbaric medical department for their sessions.

What is an FDA “accepted” use of an hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber?*

Currently, 14 clinical indications have been accepted for premarket review and clearance of hyperbaric chambers:
•  Air or Gas Embolism
•  Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Complicated By Cyanide Poisoning
•  Clostridial Myositis and Myonecrosis (Gas Gangrene)
•  Crush Injury, Compartment Syndrome and Other Acute Traumatic Ischemias
•  Decompression Sickness
•  Enhancement of Healing In Selected Problem Wounds
•  Severe Anemia
•  Intracranial Abscess
•  Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections
•  Osteomyelitis (Refractory)
•  Delayed Radiation Injury (Soft Tissue and Bony Necrosis)
•  Compromised Grafts and Flaps
•  Acute Thermal Burn Injury
•  Ideopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

However, not all hyperbaric chambers qualify for all indications because the actual performance of each hyperbaric chamber may not be acceptable for every indication. Marketing of the use of a hyperbaric chamber is expected to conform to the product label based upon information that the FDA has determined as safe and effective use of the device.

The FDA “acceptance” is for the premarket 510-K “Clearance to market the chambers.” Consequently, the chambers with this 510-K cannot be promoted as a “cure” for any other malady or injury. However, “off-label” prescriptive use of such a 510-K chamber is lawful.

Note: the FDA uses the word “accepted” in the appropriate context, and the substitution of the word “approved” is highly misleading to patients and physicians.

The FDA chooses to defer to the recommendations of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society, (“UHMS”), an advisory body only of health scientists. The UHMS is not an enforcement arm of the FDA.

Insurance companies and Medicare/Medical/Medicaid follow the UHMS list and limit their payments to these UHMS “approved” maladies, and traumas. Hospital based chambers have a much higher fixed-cost operational environment and cannot treat off-label maladies, even private pay patients.

Usual hospital charges are above $1,800.00 per 90 minute sessions. Not all patients have insurance, thus the need for low cost hospital-quality centers such as Healing Chambers International affiliates.

Typically, the cost of a 90 minute session in an FDA “cleared” hospital grade ASME-PVHO-1 chamber at an HCI dispensary is less than $260.00 per session.

The rates are negotiable at the HCI center you choose to attend. Rates depend on a number of factors at that Center and can be less than $200.00 per 90 minute treatment session. Contact your local HCI Program Director.

Patients with health insurance

Please Note: Healing Chambers International is unable to bill Medicare/Medical/Medicare for patient treatments, even if they are within the UHMS “approved for reimbursement” list.

However, Healing Chambers International will bill insurance companies for such “approved” treatments IF the patient has prior written from that insurer, specifying the HCI Center where their physicians Rx will be filled. Prior to the first treatment session, patients will be required to deposit the usual insurance “co-pay” for their treatments in advance.

Our affiliated Centers all have physicians in daily attendance and we have 24/7 access to our eminent Scientific Advisory Board for specialist advice on the ever-widening groups of maladies that physicians are now referring their patients for HBOT.

We can proudly claim that our physicians and staff are the most senior and experienced in HBOT. We provide hospital standard hyperbaric oxygen therapy (“HBOT”) at affordable prices, utilizing the collective knowledge of an elite group of pedigreed HBOT medical specialists who are part of our Science Advisory Board. More than 100,000 treatment sessions have been given to patients at our Centers around the World with a 100% safety record.

NO OTHER AFFILIATED GROUP OF HYPERBARIC CENTERS IN THE UNITED STATES HAS SUCH A SCIENCE ADVISORY BOARD.

Our specialist physicians do diagnose and treat illness and injuries … or you can attend one of our Centers under the direction of your personal physician!

More than 100,000 treatment sessions have been given to patients at our Centers around the world with a 100% safety record.

•  We carefully review the patient’s medical records and talk with the patient’s referring primary-care physician
•  We call in local specialist physicians to consult if the patient isn’t responding like we would want
•  We work with the patient on detoxying while undergoing the HBOT treatments
•  We provide massage relief from Herxheimer reactions, along with frequent hands-on consultations and follow-up
•  We do understand how complicated chronic illness can be and that we need to take a multi-faceted approach in treating any disease and its co-infections.

The Centers – elegant and spacious …

While the Centers that are associated with “Healing Chambers, International” are independently owned Centers, they are all bound together by common threads. Because HBOT patients require many treatment sessions our affiliated Centers have done their best to create a new style of medicine where both patients and caregivers are relaxed and know that they matter.

Our Centers’ goal is to achieve optimum recovery for patients with the least amount of HBOT treatment sessions. Our patients do not just pay for a “block” of slots of HBOT at one of our Centers and either HBOT works or it doesn’t … we will be here for consultants/adjustments to aid in healing throughout the process and, if-needed, afterwards … it is a relationship.

The Chambers – the most modern with a proven safety record

Many of our Centers feature the “Sands Series III HBOT Chamber”, considered to be one of the most modern and patient-friendly chambers used in the U.S. and around the world. These hospital grade chambers are now commonly referred to as “hard” chambers, where appropriate HBOT pressures, as prescribed by your M.D., D.O., D.D.S. physician can be administered.

Treatments in “hard” chambers are between ten and thirty times more effective than inflatable chambers. Patients heal faster and the overall cost is lower.

Note: Regarding inflatable chambers – We believe these devices cannot be adequately pressurized and a waste of time and money to their users.

Recent media attention to the so called “mild HBOT” inflatable chambers is misleading. There is doubt about their ability to provide the healing effects of “hard” hyperbaric chambers where the patient breathes 100% oxygen.
